Dr. Rebecca J. Shoden

Dr. Rebecca J. Shoden passed away on September 19, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. BAHS from …

 

Becky was born on June 23, 1954 to the Colonel John C. Shoden and Jan Shoden in Cherry Point, North Carolina. Being a child of the military, Becky lived in several places including Texas and Germany, inheriting a love for the German language. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree from University of Texas Austin, she then earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern and completed her OBGYN residency in Michigan.

Becky settled in Albuquerque, NM and established one of the most respected OBGYN private practices in the state.

Larry-Allaman

Larry Allaman

Larry Allaman passed away peacefully April 28th, 2020, in Vail, Arizona, at age 83, with his family at his side.

He taught science, mathematics, and German courses at High School and International Baccalaureate levels at several locations in Europe, including Bonn.

He is survived by his wife, Kristine; his faithful Labrador retriever, Noel; and remembered fondly by the many students who learned chemistry, physics, and mathematics from their beloved teacher.

Donald Jones

Donald Jones passed away on 9 March 2020. He attended BAHS from 77-79.

Mike Lauderdale

I just learned from his sister that he left us as a result of a medical complication. God rest his soul in peace.

Tami passed away on April 26th 2019 in Springfield Missouri. Tami was a member af the Class of 1976 at Bonn American High School, Germany.
She will be missed by her familie and friends

Thomas Zilian

Thomas Zilian

Thomas Zilian, 46, of Portsmouth, RI, died unexpectedly at his home on April 2, 2019.
Tom was born into his military family in Wiesbaden, Germany, and attended high schools in Portsmouth and also Bonn, Germany.  He was a Fellow of the Bonn Crusaders – Class of 91.

Tom is survived by his fiancée Anna Lubiner, son Alex 10, daughter Sonie 13, mother Geri, father Fred, brother James, sister-in-law Zoe Zilian, sister Nicole Milici, and brother-in-law, Marc Milici; his nieces and nephews, Mary Jane, Sofia, Vincent, and Anthony Milici, and Ava and Mia Zilian. He is also survived by his ex-wife and mother of his children, Dorota Hapek.

Tom was a sweet and beautiful soul- many fun times shared in Bonn during high school….he was a fellow classmate of mine. RIP my friend.???

Giving tribute to a friend and my teacher in BAHS from 73-76.
In 1972, Jeff was hired by the Department of Defense Education Activity. His first assignment was Bonn American High School, Germany. He taught Biology, Computers and Human relations. His last destination was Guam-Okinawa where he lived with his wife Rosa and passed away suddenly on, March 23, 2018.

Beulah Nel (Els)

Beulah Nel (Els)

Our beloved Beulah passed away unexpectedly at her home in South Africa in the night of 30 January 2017. She was a successful Business woman and Entrepreneur, a supermom and in general the sun in many peoples lives. She is being missed tremendously by family, friends and colleagues. Beulah attended BAHS from 1976-1982, a real Crusader at heart. Gone but never forgotten.

Marcia Geyer

Marcia Geyer passed away peacefully September 28, 2017 in Melbourne, FL. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marcia Geyer’s life.

Patricia Degen

She died peacefully in her sleep in the morning of December 07.2017, at the age of 88.

George John D'Louhy

October 3, 1959 – May 10, 2015

George John D’Louhy, 55, of Seattle, died unexpectedly on May 10, 2015. He was born in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on October 3, 1959 and was the son of Jacqueline Nelson D’Louhy and the late George Joseph D’Louhy. He was active in high school sports, playing football, wrestling and soccer. George frequently spoke of his many fond memories at the Bonn American High School in Bad Godesberg, Germany. He sure was a real Crusader.

James R. Manuel

James R. “Jim” Manuel, age 80, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 12, 2014, at the Winchester Hospital.

After teaching in South Korea Jim came to Germany where he made life long relationships with his students in Bonn, Munich, and Heidelberg. Jim’s passion for teaching young minds was incredible; he not only made teaching fun, but he made his student’s believe in themselves and strive to be whatever they wanted to be. He is remembered by numerous Students and left a deep impression in their lives.

Johann Westerhorstmann

10.02.1963 – 27.07.2014

Johann Westerhorstmann, former student of the Bonn American High School Class of 1981, passed on July 27, 2014 near his home in Baumholder, Germany.
Johann was a successful businessman, loving husband to his wife, Bettina, and loving father for his three daughters, and a great brother to his three brothers, Joe, Matt and Marc, all of whom also attended the Bonn American High School in their youths.
His family and his dear friends really miss Johan, and we will forever remember his tender smile and great quiet humor. God bless you, Johann!

Michael S. Butterbaugh

Michael S. Butterbaugh. Born March 6, 1935 in North Manchester, Indiana and died Dec. 7, 1998 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Mr. Butterbaugh was the Guidance Counselor at BAHS from 1973-1985. He was one-of-a-kind: a true champion of kids, someone who always wanted to help them succeed and reach their goals. He absolutely loved his job and enjoyed helping students each and every day. He was always upbeat and encouraging; and he always could find something special and positive about each and every student he met. Mr. Butterbaugh was an avid sports fan (especially Cubs baseball) and loved being the “Voice if tge Crusaders” as the announcer at all of the BAHS sporting events.

KARIN R. HAHN (Age 62)

On March 28, 2017 after prolonged illness. Beloved daughter of Gerard J. Hahn and Dorothy A. (Bothwell) Hahn; sister of Kathy Costello, Wellesley, MA, Susan Hahn, Arnold, MD and Rod Hahn, Reston, VA. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Michael Costello and Tony Kominoth; nieces; Liz Bae (and her husband, Stephen Bae), Christy Costello and Jennifer Costello; great-nieces, Olivia Bae and Hannah Bae; and aunts, Roberta Bothwell and Nelly Bothwell… 

Christopher Wolsky

1957 – 1996

Christopher Wolsky was Born 1957. Chris was at BAHS from 1972-1975. He was one-of-a-kind: a true champion of Sports, someone who always wanted to go beond his limits to succeed and reach his goals. He definitly left this world to early.
